Planning your Wedding

Included on this page is come information to help you to begin to arrange your Wedding in the churches of this Benefice.  However, this information is intended as a general guide only.  Before making any specific arrangements it is vital that you contact the Rev Shena Bell, whose contact details are listed at the bottom of the page, along with useful contact numbers for the four parishes.

Banns of Marriage
The announcement of your forthcoming marriage has, by law, to be made in the three months before your wedding.  The "Banns" need to be read three times during the main Sunday morning service and it is important that you attend.  Without reading the Banns your marriage cannot take place.  If one of you live in another parish you must also have the Banns read there.  The person conducting your marriage service will talk to you about this.

Music and Hymns
You wil need to liase with the organist from your parish church.  Music is an important part of any wedding.  You should liase with the organist as soon as possible after your wedding is booked.  The organists in each church will be delighted to help and advise

Fees.
Fees are set by Parliament, and are available from Shena Bell.  A non returnable deposit of 50.00 is payable when booking the wedding.  This secures the day and time.  The balance of fees should be paid a month before the wedding.

In St Peter's Raunds and St Laurence Stanwick we are fortunate to have choirs available.  This does enhance the music and adds much to the sense of occasion.  The fee for the choir at Stanwick is 50.00 and for Raunds 80.00.

Unfortunately, at the present time there is no choir at St Mary's Ringstead, although arrangements can be made for a choir at All Hallow's Hargrave

Bells.
Fees for the bells are 120.00 for St Laurence's Stanwick, 120.00 for St Peter's Raunds (8 bells 160.00) and 80.00 for All Hallows Hargrave and St Mary's Ringstead (bells out of commission at the moment.)

Flowers.
Please do consult the flower arrangers in the relevant church before making your arrangements.  You may choose to bring in your own florist to make arrangements with the florists in the local church.  Whichever you choose please do let the church flower arrangers know.  They can be helpful to you and communication with them can help you avoid a number of problems.

Service Sheets
It is important that you discuss music, hymns, form of printing and order of service with Shena before ordering your service sheets.  It is worth taking time to check that all the details are correct.

Photography and Videos
We are happy that photographs are taken in church but some rules are laid down.  During the service any photographs should be taken by the officially appointed photographer.  The photographer may stand at the back of the church or at the side except during the signing of the registers, and at the end of the service.  It is particularly important that flash photography is not used during the service.

If you wish to make a video of your wedding this can be arranged under certain circumstances.  It will involve you contacting the licensing authority and purchasing a licence which is quite expensive.  Fees for the organist and choir double and there is an additional charge made by the bell ringers.  The clergy will give you a leaflet explaining the situation and giving you contact details of the video licensing authority, but you have a responsibility to make sure that you and your guests are complying with the law.

  • Only one official video/photographer is allowed in church.
  • The service cannot be altered or disrupted.
  • No intrusion into the service.
  • The PCC reserve the right to withdraw permission.

Confetti
Confetti is allowed, but the Church Wardens ask that you please stand some way back from the church porch, so that it does not blow back into the building.  You are asked not to use metallic confetti in the churchyard.
